Color the Overture

Image
The white color is called "Blank Slate". This represents Act I. Blank Slate is the starting point for designers to begin their explorations. They can create their own narrative arcs, explore relationships and begin designing and planning.  The middle burnt orange color is called "Empathy". Empathy represents Act II. Empathy is the stage for designs to being to create solutions for their users. They are experimenting in this act, which could bring about a range of emotions. The color empathy represents all the the different emotions one feels during this act. The blue color is called "Impact". Impact represents Act III. The happy blue color is meant to represent the hopefulness that you feel when looking at others perception of your work.

Engage the Empathy

After looking through everyone's empathy survey, I want to say great work to everyone! Also if anyone wouldn't mind helping me figure out how to embed something, I would really appreciate it. As you could probably tell, I couldn't quite figure that out and ended up just posting a link to my survey.  I was really impressed with the creativity that people put into their surveys and the different types of questions- some were short answer, multiple choice, pictures, etc. It made it really engaging for me to have different types of questions to respond to. These surveys also got me doing some deep thinking, as some of the questions were ones I hadn't asked myself in a while ( or ever)! I noticed themes around peace, motivation and hobbies. A unique survey I took centered around AI. I hadn't given AI much thought until I took that survey, so I felt like I was really thinking deeply about it for the first time. It was a really interesting one for me. I truly didn't kn...

Pantry in the Process

The three essential elements of design process are: empathy ideate/prototype testing Empathy: Empathy is essential in the design process because it allows you to connect with the user. Through observations, conversation, surveys and engaging with your user, you gain an understanding of who they are. This is important because this will effect the designs and ideas you have for them. Everyone is different which is why getting to know a person makes a huge difference in having a successful design.  Ideate/Prototype: Being able to generate ideas and develop multiple solutions will give you a better chance at having a successful design process. In this element, you test and refine your solutions.  Testing: Testing is necessary because you need to see how your ideas are working out. During this time, you can gather feedback and tweak your ideas to better suit your users.  Honestly, I found this assignment to be out of my comfort and I found myself not really knowing where...

2 Pictures, 1 Question

Image
Hello Everyone! The two pictures I decided to include in this post are a picture of mountains/hiking trails and a picture of colored pencils/craft supplies. I live right next door to Acadia National Park, and I have always had a love for the outdoors. As I got older, I got into hiking and found it to be a natural high for me. I love to hike all over, have traveled here and there to hike and even try to continue my love by toting my one year old on my back and hitting the trail.  I included a picture of colored pencils to represent craft supplies. I am NOT talented at crafting, but still find it relaxing, interesting and fun to try. When making anchor charts for my students, I try my best to make it visually appealing, as well as informative.  My question is: How is everyone doing? What are the ways we can best support each other and our wonderful students during this unknown school year?
